The 2006 ABBY Awards
2006 BVAs of the YearA packed house of 300 arts, business and foundation leaders joined The Arts & Business Council of Chicago on Thursday, June 15 to recognize the extraordinary achievements of individuals and organizations behind the scenes in the arts at The 2006 ABBY Awards. The Ballroom at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago provided a beautiful backdrop for the evening's festivities.

The evening began with a special Leadership in the Arts award presented by Paul Boulis, President of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois to Les Coney, Board Chairman of the Goodman Theatre, for his distinguished service to the arts community. Amina Dickerson, Senior Director of Global Community Involvement at Kraft Foods, served as the evening's inspiring Master of Ceremonies.

The 2006 ABBY Award Recipients were:

Arts Management Excellence - presented by Tony Jones, President, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago
•  Antonia Contro, Executive Director, Marwen
•  Amy Iwano, Executive Director, Chicago Chamber Musicians

Arts and Business Partnership - presented by Greg White, Partner, Chicago Venture Partners
• The Lookingglass Theatre Company in partnership with The Albert Pick, Jr. Fund, The Boeing Company and Chase.
• The International Music Foundation and LaSalle Bank.

Business Volunteers of the Year – presented by Edward Torres, Artistic Director of Teatro Vista
• Francis Sadac of IBM and Camela Furry of MCI for the development of a strategic plan for Greasy Joan and Co.

Board Member of the Year – presented by Edward Torres, Artistic Director of Teatro Vista
• Jacqueline (Jackie) Renner, Vice President & General Manager Fisher Scientific International, Inc. for her work as Board President of Pegasus Players.

Special Recognition Awards - presented by Fawn Ring, Executive Producer of Arts & Entertainment, WTTW Channel 11
• HMS Media, producer of The Chicago Dance Project, a 13-part television series spotlighting Chicago’s world-class dance community.
• Fred Solari, former General Manager of the Athenaeum Theatre and Co-Found of Dance Chicago for his contribution to the Chicago arts community.
