The Arts & Business Council of Chicago is excited to host Breakfast Club, a monthly gathering on the first Tuesday of every month for arts administrators. These convenings bring arts leaders to discuss topics and share ideas relevant to the business of art. Breakfast Club supports leaders and staff of nonprofit arts organizations through informal peer-to-peer sharing, casual facilitated conversation, and information dissemination over cereal and coffee.
Breakfast Club topics vary month-to-month and are responsive to emerging issues in arts management and the expressed needs of attendees. Previous topics include Crafting the Pitch and Individual Giving. Recent attendees include staff and Board of Directors representatives from Sideshow Theatre, Maywood Fine Arts, Lifeline Theatre, Inaside Chicago Dance, Homeroom, and many more.
Don’t miss the next Breakfast Club on Tuesday, January 9! The topic will be Collaborative Leadership.
Arts and cultural organizations often carry a unique structure of collaborative leadership – an artistic leader and an administrative leader who are expected to work in harmony to make an organization thrive. As leaders and staff, how do we work within and under these “arranged marriages?”
As collaborative leaders, how do we develop mission alignment? Can we pursue the same strategic goals from different perspectives? How do we build trust?
As staff, how do we navigate our organizational charts with collaborative leaders? Who do we communicate with in different scenarios? How can our collaborative leaders model effective working relationships and communication?
