DanceWorks Chicago (DWC) has provided artistic training and guidance along with financial and emotional support for young dancers and choreographers for 11 years. DWC fosters a diverse next generation of movers and makers, empowering young artists to cultivate their unique voices through skill acquisition and development, collaborations and relationship-building with a global perspective, intense and intentional mentorship, and performances shining a light on dancers and dance.  

We’re excited to announce our Winter class of On BOARD candidates. The On BOARD candidates are in the early stages of their exploration phase to find an arts & cultural organization that best aligns with their passion and skills. We look forward to seeing the connections these individuals will make with our participating arts organizations.

It’s been another successful year for the Business Volunteers for the Arts program! In this calendar year, we brought on 41 new BVA consultants and trained 13 new Team Leads. Our consultants engaged in 27 pro bono consulting projects for our clients.  The total number of hours contributed by our consultants topped at 1,917, valued at $287,550!  A huge number for our clients!

The Arts & Business Council of Chicago is excited to host Breakfast Club, a monthly gathering on the first Tuesday of every month for arts administrators. These convenings bring arts leaders to discuss topics and share ideas relevant to the business of art. Breakfast Club supports leaders and staff of nonprofit arts organizations through informal peer-to-peer sharing, casual facilitated conversation, and information dissemination over cereal and coffee.

The Arts & Business Council of Chicago's On BOARD Program promotes board service as an opportunity for leadership development and civic engagement. Program participants attend four half-day trainings and learn the fundamentals of board service including nonprofit phases of development, finances and tax issues, legal responsibilities, and fundraising. Participants also attend a networking event at the start of the program where they meet arts organizations and explore opportunities for board service.
